The Savannah™ S is the 2010 novelty of ICP, born from the desire to make the Savannah™ more refined and elegant, and therefore complete the process of aesthetic improvement, which began last year, with the Savannah™ XL, which had been the front part of the fuselage was completely modified.
This year, attention was paid to the rear part of the aircraft, leaving the wings unchanged, which have always proven to be the Savannah™'s strong point, especially in the version with vortex generators, thanks to the combination of the high wing surface area with the profile high lift.
The subject of the 2010 restyling was the tail section; the corners have been eliminated, and the typical squaring has been replaced by a sinuous curvature which gives the whole aircraft harmony and completeness, without detracting from the well-known characteristics of solidity and safety of the vehicle.

The new Savannah™ S combines all the improvements of the previous versions:

  • the wing with vortex generators, which leads to an increase in cruising speed up to 180 km/h, without compromising the very low stall speed and the generous dimensions of the cabin, capable of comfortably accommodating even the tallest pilots
  • the pedal adjustable in standard or advanced position by 10 cm
  • the panoramic view of the roof and doors entirely in lexan
  • the improved aerodynamic profile thanks to the lengthening of the bonnet and the greater inclination of the windscreen, the instrument panel is wider to contain more instruments, and higher to leave more space for the knees.
Structure

– The Savannah™ S is a high-braced, two-seat side-by-side monoplane with matching profiled struts.
– The structure is entirely metallic of the collaborative covering type.
– The wing has a modified NACA 650-18 high lift profile, with “Junker” type flaperons, which can be activated both manually and electrically (optional).
– The tanks, mounted inside the wings, have a capacity of 36 liters each. They are communicating and flow into a collection well, located in the fuselage, equipped with a Drain Valve and a reserve indicator connected to a warning light on the dashboard with a test button.
– The elevator trim is electrically controlled, while the rudder trim is manually adjustable.
– It is possible to install “Junkers 500” type parachutes

Interior

– The passenger compartment is completely soundproofed and covered in cloth or carpet.
– Large side doors allow easy independent access and can be removed if necessary in hot climates or for aerial photography.
– For greater visibility, the doors and roof are totally transparent.
– The seats are of the side-by-side type in canvas or cloth.
– The luggage compartment, located behind the seats and accessible during the flight, can hold up to 20 kg (45 lbs) of luggage.
– Ventilation: there is a dynamic vent for extracting air from the passenger compartment at the top at the bottom of the luggage compartment. Furthermore, it is possible to increase ventilation by opening and directing the two air vents on the windows.
– Heating in the cabin adjustable on the feet or on the windscreen, with control on the dashboard.
– Courtesy light.

Cart

– The main landing gear is a one-piece aluminum alloy leaf spring that eliminates all moving parts (does not require shock absorbers).
– The front undercarriage, connected to the pedals, (in the tricycle configuration) is of the elastic telescopic shock absorber type and is steerable to facilitate taxiing.
– The hydraulic disc brakes are independent and act on the wheels of the main landing gear.

Motor

The bonnet is completely removable to allow easier inspection of the engine compartment.
– A door has been inserted on the upper bonnet which allows easy inspection of the oil level.
– The propulsion system is based on the 80 Hp Rotax 912 UL 2 and 100 Hp Rotax 912 ULS 2 engines.
– The propeller is supplied based on the type of engine chosen and completed with a fiberglass spinner with a diameter of 260 mm. With Rotax 912 UL 2 of 80 Hp
– Two-blade adjustable pitch on the ground in composite; With Rotax 912 ULS 2 of 100 Hp
– Three blades with adjustable pitch on the ground in composite;
– The new ring engine mount, which supports the engine at the rear, has allowed for lower vibrations and more streamlined bonnets.
– The fuel system is equipped with an additional electric pump with heat shielding
